Life Membership for Ciara Boyle

YPCCs Annual General Meeting on the 21st of August awarded Ciara Boyle Life Membership for her exceptional service to our club.

Ciara joined YPCC in 2015 as the parent of junior players. All three of her children have played
In YP junior boys or girls teams. Ciara became a junior team manager and established extremely successful collaborations with coaches John Pearce, Matt Watson and others. She helped guide young cricketers to premierships and many finals appearances. Through this period Ciara was a regular and enthusiastic participant in club social events. She helped welcome families and made them feel part of the club.
Ciara joined the club committee of management in season 2017/18 and in 2018/19 was elected as club secretary and served for six years. She was YPCC’s first female club secretary.

She was outstanding in this role during a period of club growth and transformation. She helped successfully guide the club through some of the most challenging events YP has ever faced. The pandemic years were extremely hard for club administrators and Ciara played a key leadership role in keeping players and supporters safe and YP teams on the field.

Ciara was respected as a leader by members of our men’s, women’s and junior programs. She always acted in ways that put the interests of the club first. She’s been a regular donor to the Clubs Community Cricket Fund. Her leadership on the Committee of Management was consistently positive, compassionate and decisive.
She was instrumental in establishing the club infrastructure and governance needed to support the re-establishment of YP’s women’s program in 2019/20 – about 85 years after Youlden Kensington player Lorna Kettels represented Australia. The introduction of womens teams required a shift in YPCC’s culture and big changes to how access to nets and grounds and club resources were shared. Ciara was a great advocate for women’s cricket and made sure YP’s program was done well and supported by the whole club.

Cricket was not a part of Ciara’s life growing up riding ponies and playing the bodhran in pub folk bands around Cork in Ireland. She played her first cricket games in 2019/20 and was a member of YPs premiership team in that year. Ciara is a competitive, determined and passionate cricketer who has been a much loved member of every team she’s played in

Congratulations Ciara!
